Irene M. Caruso, age 81, of Highland, died on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at Hudson Valley Rehab & Extended Care Center, Highland.
Mrs. Caruso was born on Dec. 9, 1928 in Poughkeepsie. She was the daughter of James and Angelina (Aveon) DeMelis. She married Nicholas Caruso on Nov. 19, 1950 at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Poughkeepsie.
She was an avid bingo player.
She is survived by her husband: Nicholas Caruso at home; one daughter: Joann Schirmer of Highland; one son: Nicholas Caruso Jr. of Highland.

William F. Cooke Sr.
William F. Cooke Sr., 98, of East Stroudsburg, PA, died on Sunday evening, Aug. 29 at Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of the late I. Ruth (Lee) Cooke who died in 1981.
Born July 28, 1912 in Dorraceton, PA, he was the son of the late Robert H. and Carrie (Ammann) Cooke.
He was a 1930 graduate of Girard College and at the time of his death he was the oldest living member of that class. He worked for Hughes Printing in East Stroudsburg, as a printing pressman, for 44 years.
He was a member of the United States Golf Association, Girard College Alumni Association and the Varsity “E”. He was also a member of the Graphic Communications Conference/IBT and one of the five pioneering charter members of the Pressman’s Local in 1934.
He was an avid golfer who was still able to shoot his age at 97.
He is survived by a daughter: Kathy Schoonover of Highland; two sons: William F. Cooke Jr. and his wife, Judith of Elverson, PA and Robert E. Cooke of East Stroudsburg; two grandchildren: Jody Sue Harris and her husband Peter of New Paltz and Robert Scott Schoonover and his wife Gretchen of Highland; three great granddaughters: Brooke Arden Harris, Elizabeth Kate Harris and Genevieve Michelle Schoonover; a brother: Robert H. Cooke of East Stroudsburg and a sister: Alice Giles of Virginia.
Private graveside funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North Fifth Street, Stroudsburg, PA is in charge of the arrangements.
