Despite the best efforts of local volunteers and village officials over the last several years to eradicate the problem of feral cats, a Woodstock group has found that colonies of the animals still exist.

To help alleviate the situation, village trustees at their Aug. 18 meeting hired the Woodstock Feral Cat Project. The village will pay the group $500 to trap the cats, transport them to the SPCA to be spayed or neutered and then released back to where they were trapped.
