The race for President of the United States tops the ballot on Tuesday, November 6, but because of New York’s unassailable blue tint, that race has gotten scant attention around here. Most of the attention has gone to a congressional race in a newly drawn district, with the winner between Republican Chris Gibson, an incumbent, though in a much different district than he now faces, and Democrat Julian Schreibman, in his maiden voyage as an electoral candidate, essentially replacing the retiring Rep. Maurice Hinchey, a Democrat who has held the seat since 1992.
