The students and ensemble company of Boundless Edge will perform on their home rink, the Saugerties Kiwanis Ice Arena, this Saturday, March 26 in a season finale that will include a number of ice dances from the company’s repertoire. Volcano, one of its most popular pieces, will be done along with Tulle and Satin, ’Til the End of Love, Persephone and the Birth of Spring with its giant puppet characters and a rousing Nina Simone spiritual, Run to the Rock. School students of all levels will perform in numerous duets and solos along with ensemble members, including some lower-level students: an inclusion that founder/director Beth Woronoff says serves to inspire young people who don’t know how to skate at all.

The program also features the premiere performance of Cuisine Flambé, an interpretation of a dance created by New York choreographer Linda Diamond. Originally created “on dry land,” the storyline has a group of chefs working in synchronicity until they stop their work and start to party. When the head chef comes in and brings the merriment to a halt, the characters must get back to work. Woronoff explains that this is the second time that they’ve created an ice dance from a stage-choreographed dance. “It’s like interpreting a language correctly. The skater has to invent or create movements that have the same physical meaning, the same thrust. We spent a lot of time looking at the video [of Diamond’s original dance] to convert head and arm movements.”

Diamond’s company, the Linda Diamond Dance Ensemble, performs in New York City and upstate New York. Co-producer of the Woodstock Diamond Dance Festival, she has collaborated with others in many innovative projects, such as A Dancer’s View of Calder’s Universe for WPBT public television in Miami. Woronoff hints that Diamond will be in attendance for the Boundless Edge premiere of her work – no pressure at all on the skaters!

Tickets to the 7 p.m. show are $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors. The Kiwanis Ice Arena is located on Washington Avenue in Saugerties. For tickets and information call (845) 626-4596 or visit www.boundlessedge.org.

Enjoyed your article very much. As a reporter, thought you might like to know when I clicked on the website, in the article all the letters of "a" and "s" seemed to come out with an unusual symbol. Perhaps you should check it out and see why this is happening.

Otherwise was a great article.thanks.

P.S. We are all human after all. there were no letters in an image depicted. sorry

tHIS IS well worth seeing. There is boundless

talent among the young skaters and mature ones.

this is truly intergenerational, with great

artistry taste and outlook by Artistic DirectorBeth Woronoff who deserves great credit for bringing together motivated young people and

channeling their focus through A unique transference on ice that you will not forget .

By all means bring your friend, your children and your grandma -and lots of blankets and coats to keep warm no heat during the hr. and l5 min. show) Not to be missed.
