Vincent Brognano Sr.

Vincent Brognano Sr., age 88, of New Paltz, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, peacefully at home with his family at his side.

He was born on Feb. 10, 1922 in Italy. He was the son of the late Rocco and the late Josephine (Siclairi) Brognano. He came to the United States when he was seven years old. He married Josephine Roccanova on Nov. 11, 1939. She predeceased him June 11, 1995.

He served in the Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945.

He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, New Paltz, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Brooklyn, and a member of the VFW, Brannen VandenBerg Post #8645, New Paltz.

He was retired in 1978 from the United States Military Academy At West Point.

He is survived by two daughters, Judy Serulneck of East Northport, NY, Isabelle Kennedy of Marlboro, NY; four sons, Rocco Brognano of NJ, Anthony Brognano of New Paltz, Vincent Brognano Jr. of Gardiner, and Joseph Brognano of New Paltz; one sister, Rose Rinella of Staten Island, NY; one brother, Fred Brognano of Staten Island. He was predeceased by a brother, Nicholas Brognano.

He is also survived by his two dogs, Scooby and Cooper, who are his faithful companions.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz. The funeral will be Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 34 South Chestnut Street, New Paltz where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.

Anthony Gatto Jr.

Anthony Gatto Jr., age 81, of New Paltz died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 at Mountain View Nursing & Rehab Center, New Paltz.

Mr. Gatto was born July 31, 1929 in Bronx, NY the son of the late Anthony and the late Angelina (Turco) Gatto, Sr. Anthony married Dolores Pavesca on Sept. 28, 1952.

He served in the Army from 1946 to 1948 during World War II.

He retired in 1992 from the New Windsor Sewer Treatment Plant, Town of New Windsor.

He is survived by his loving wife: Dolores (Pavesca) Gatto of 58 years, his children and grandchildren.

David A. Lauchaire

David A. Lauchaire, age 58, of New Paltz, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 at St. Lukes Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh.

Mr. Lauchaire was born Oct. 22, 1951 in New York City, the son of the late Theodore and the late Emily (Kider) Lauchaire.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1971.

He was retired from U.S. Post Office, Rosendale, NY in 2004.

He is survived by one daughter: Dawn M. Lauchaire of Pine Bush; three sons, Michael and wife, Allison Lauchaire of New Paltz; Ryan Lauchaire of New Paltz; Lincoln Lauchaire Kelly of New Paltz; granddaughter, Sadie Lauchaire of New Paltz; two sisters, Diane Albignano of Franklin Square, Penepole and James Courchesne; two brothers and sister-in-laws, Robert and Sherry VanDamm, Christopher and Anne VanDamm and fiance Patty Klubnick of Beacon.
