The popular event regularly draws crowds of 3,000-5,000.
“It’s going to be an especially significant celebration this year, with the passage of the Equality of Marriage Act. Even though our country has a long history of granting personal freedom and personal rights, there have been, throughout history, exclusions to that: slavery, women not having the right to vote. Now we have marriage equality. This year will be special,” said Supervisor Toni Hokanson.
Event-goers can picnic or patronize a selection of food vendors. Live entertainment will include blues, gospel, R&B and country music -- by the Holmes Brothers and The Big Joe Fitz Band -- as well as children’s activities.
“It’s a fun event that you can attend for free. There’s no admission fee. We’ve got fantastic music, wonderful fireworks and it’s just a great celebration for families,” said Hokanson.
